The Post of Promises

This is a post of promises.
Once I finish my FOUR ridiculously difficult exams that are jam packed like fat ladies in Spanx into Thursday and Friday, I will start blogging, fixing my previous post, learning how to actually put pictures in my posts (please see my previous posts and the sow's ear I made of it), and just getting on with this online world of blogdom, pinteresting, tweeting and what not!

Nursing school has been great, but time consuming, scary and quite hard! And the time I have not spent in school, or studying/ thinking about school, was time I spent outside, at the beach, by the pool, at the bar!, and with people I love-- not with my computer!

Hard to believe that in less than two years I'll be actually taking care of people!

Ta ta for now blog folk!

Exam Woes

Yikes! Exams have already crept up on me. I have my first exam tomorrow morning at 8 A.M. And I can name 20 things I really want to do other than studying.

1) Getting rid of all of sweaters.*not forever, just until it gets cold again*

I have slowly been switching out my winter/summer clothes from my shoebox of a closet. inside my broom closet of a bedroom (ah the price of trendy living). And now I want all of the rest of the sweaters O-U-T out!

2) Watching funny babies on Youtube.

... I wonder what they are talking about!?

3)Watching the Royal Wedding.
Unfortunately, the Royal Wedding was not a factor in the University's planning of the exam schedule. However at the rate my studying is going I might just get lucky and be able to watch the event because this may be an allnighter!

4) Spending thirty minutes trying to upload all of my most-recent pictures to find out that my "picture uploading thingamajig" is broken. Fabulous.

5) Looking at one of the most amazing wedding pictures from: http://www.whiteboxblog.com/
Please, look at the Indian wedding pictures. The colors are just amazing! I have seen a lot of wedding shows that feature an Indian wedding and I have never seen a pink and green color scheme done with one. I thought it was just fabulous!

6) Looking at more weeding pictures from this website: http://greenweddingshoes.com/
If you are anything like me, you love love love weddings. You need to get acquainted with the "green wedding shoes." All of the weddings are absolutely "to Di" (haha get it!).

7) Wondering where I could find myself a Scottish man that has a family Tartan and wears a kilt. Seriously, I love kilts as formal-wear. This girl I knew was dating a Scot who was very attractive and he wore a kilt to her formal. I thought it was the most dashing thing ever. Not to mention his accent gave me goosebumps haha!

8) Dying, literally dying over the Claire Pettibone Couture Bridal gowns.
http://bridal.clairepettibone.com/?cp=collections/gowns

9) Dying once again because she has many dresses that are under 5,000!

10) Planning my wedding (Ok. I know I have wedding fever). No, I am not engaged. haha!

11) Looking up picutres of bulldogs. The BF's nextdoor neighbor now has a French bulldog puppy named Winston! I love a dog with wrinkles!!

12) Dancing around to the Ellie Goulding song Lights, but the Bassnectar Remix. (It's better, I think!).

13) And to the new T-Pain/ ChrisBrown (UGH, I HATE HATE HATE that he is singing this song... I have a hard time supporting an abuser.... but at the same time this is such a good song. ) song: Best Love Song

15) Repainting my toe nails. I recently had a very sparkly polish on, which I love! But it takes some serious elbow grease to even get the polish off. This time I am going with Cajun Shrimp by OPI!

No, those are not my fingers! Broken uploader remember?!

16) Playing with my new lotions and potions. That's what I call my face creams and masks. I just recently bought:

and

I don't know if I will like these, but I thought I would give them a try.

17) Wrapping my roommates birthday present! She turns the big 2-1 tomorrow, or should I say in 50 minutes! I bought her these really cute fleur de lis stud earrings and a plain white coffee mug that comes with these ransom note lookings letters that she can put on herself to write funny messages. (She drinks a ton of coffee).

18) Blogging of course!

Well, I guess I really should go and give this thing called studying a second try. Artemis Jones (a term of endearment for my good ole pops! He goes by Art, and our last name is not Jones... I just said it once and now its stuck... he doesn't get it, and much prefers it when I call him Dad or Daddy. Which I normally do, I only call him Artemis Jones when I  am either talking about him, or being silly!) will not be happy to learn I didn't do well on a final exam because "I just didn't feel like studying," ha!

Peace, love and Fabulousness,
B

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Brittany is a nursing student!

Hello all I am back!

So many updates so little time! Let's just start with the most important, I got into the Nursing School! Finally, I can start my true path to what I want to do in life. Seriously, love my school, but there were so many unnecessary classes I have taken/ am taking right this second (shoot me) that are really nothing more than a big ole' waste of my time. But now this summer I get to start taking classes that I will need in life and am completely interested in, and only those classes. Albeit, these classes are going to kick my butt-- but I get to enjoy the butt-kicking... if that makes sense.  Really though, I am so ecstatic that I am in, I literally started crying when I opened my letter of accpetance :D. I'm kind of a weenie, I cry a lot. But this is huge!

Spring Break happened! I went on a cruise to Nassau, Free Port and Key West with some friends and my Boyfriend! It was really fun. There were tons of college students, I feel really bad for all of the families and the older couples that happened to unwittingly book an affordable cruise in March full of spring breakers! And the cruise really had no idea that there were going to be so many of us! They had a 24 hour pizzeria, and on the first night at 4 AM when the flood of coeds rushed to the only place that served food all night, and once the Electronique Discoteque (the nightclub) closed the poor pizza chef was way overwhelmed. The line was out the door and he kept coming out one 10 inch pizza at a time!

During the trip the BFs and my relationship trip really grew. I think our biggest issue was this one night when my feet were killiing me and he kept dragging me out on the dance floor. I have actually found a guy who likes to dance as much as I do. (We actually choose places to go out by whether there is goood dancing or not!).

My sorority also had our formal. It was so much fun! I wore the most fabulous Lilly Dress. I'm going to post picture this weekend, as soon as I get a new card reader.

Until then,

Goodbye
-Brittany

February Resolutions. STAT

I have a goal. I have a dream. I want to be that girl who blogs and has an ultra clean room. You know, the one who writes her paper a week ahead of time, and has her Physiology (or whatever major she may be) vocab on flashcards, from the beginning of the year. The girl who is a mini Martha Stewart. Who makes treats for her boyfriend and presents these treats in beautiful wrappings and boxes (oh my!). She's crafty, organized, full of energy and wide awake all of the time. She never sleeps in and even after a night out she looks beyond put together. She also blogs no less than once a week, unless she's on a fabulous vacation. She is also fabulous, does fabulous things, and gets regular spa treatments and her nails and toenails always look great. Well good people of blogdom THIS GIRL WILL BE ME.

-I am going to go to bed early (11:00) every night unless I am doing something worthwhile. Worthwhile does not include google-ing wedding planners, venues, flowers, cakes or dresses. Nor does it include surfing the internet for my Formal dress, spring break attire, shoes, recipes, puppies or baby names. I  vow that the incredibly "important" and time-consuming construction of my fantasy life must happen in between the hours of 2 and 10 and will have to come after homework... this is going to be hard. haha.

-Every Tuesday and Thursday I will go to 8:00 AM Yoga. (Tuesday is more important though because there is a 4:00 PM yoga on Thursday).

-I am doing the Master Cleanse beginning Sunday. I will document it throughout... I am also cleansing my life. Meaning I am not only cleaning my room but am getting rid of all of the clutter I don't need.

-I am going to take tons more pictures. I am also going to be that girl who scrapbooks. My new life starting NOW is going to be fabulous so this fabulousness must be archived for the world to see! ;)

-I will be more crafty. I will do sweet things for friends and the BF. Making treats and wrapping them beautifully. I will make happy Birthday banners. I am going to practice sewing with my mom. And that's all I can think of right now! haha!

-I will practice, practice, practice painting my nails and braiding my hair (really styling my hair other than curly... my hair has lost a lot of its curl. More on that sad story another day).

-I also want to do more outside activities. (I know that sounds lame I don't know what else to call it). I want to bike a lot, and go hiking. I want to ski, surf and go white water rafting. I also want to know more about wine. (Sorry mom, but I'm 21 now.... so I am allowed to say it!). These fit together because all of this is in preparation of trips I want to do. I want to hike the Appalachian trail, the red rocks in Arizona and in Northern Scotland, raft down major rapids, and bike through France and Belgium. I also want to go to Napa, France and Chianti to taste wine.

-I am going to pray more, attend church at least every other Sunday, make the boyfriend attend with me, write in my diary more and blog more.

I solemnly swear to do all of the above in order to become the yoga doing, uber organized, Lilly-wearing-WASPy-mini-Martha with a Southern/Paula Deen twist. I may even change my Blog to just that.

"Yoga-doing, uber-organized, Lilly-wearing-WASPy-mini- Martha- with a Southern/Paula Deen Twist"

"The Lilly-wearing-Yogi"

"The Southern, Lilly wearing WASP who loves yoga"

"Nothing Could be Finer than a yoga-doing, Martha and Paula aspiring,  Carolina girl wearing Lillllllly"
^ if you have heard the "Nothing Could be Finer than to be in Carolina in the Morning" Song please sing the Lilly part in your head as you would morning.

Those all have a fabulous ring to them don't you think. Maybe my blog should just be "Southern, Preppy and Fabulous" who knows. Or maybe it should just be "This Chick is Crazy". ha!

Peace, love and Fabulousness from my blog to yours,
-Brittany aka Paula/Martha

A-L-P-H-A C-H-I OMEGA!!

Hello!

I have been going going going since my last post, and now that I just had a test yesterday (in Physiology... bleck), errr (screeching brakes) it's all stopped. I have absolutely NOTHING to do. And let me tell you, it is GLORIOUS! On Saturday my mama and I will be shopping. And then Sunday I get to lead a rush practice! All by myself, I am so excited.

I don't know if I have mentioned this, but I am the Assistant Rush Chair at Alpha Chi for Recruitment 2010 and it is so beyond exciting! I love rush and I really think I was made for this job. I like the dances, the practices, how our napkins match the gummy bears that match the flowers that matches our outfits, whose colors were picked to complement the Kitchen! It is love! Not to mention as a rush chair, me and my "boss" get to have our own outfits, separate from what everyone else will be wearing! I've already bought one dress for round 2, its Lily and it is gorgeous! I guess I'll give the breakdown of rush: 4 rounds, as you go on less girls come through and the conversations become more deep ("where are your from" to "What do you want from a sorority"), and it is the only way you can keep a sorority breathing, b/c you need members! It is so much fun! I'll give you the basics about our rush:

Round 1) Our theme is "A Perfect Match," it's very sporty because our theme is tennis. I like this theme so much because when I went through rush a lot of sororities did a nautical/beachy/fishing type theme (which is great!) So Alpha Chi really stood out to me! We do a bright, candy apple red and sunflower yellow. To complement our kitchen which is yellow w/ black and white tiles! And the girls wear these sporty outfits!

Here is our Kitchen! It is not a great picture, but you see the yellow, black and white tiles and red!!

I get to wear red (my boss has purchased a yellow dress). I really want to wear a Red high waisted skirt, with a white shirt tucked in and some type of yellow belt. I know it's very specfic, but I have a dream and hopefully I'll find something wonderful this summer! Any ideas of where I should look?

For Round 2) Game Day! We wear Carolina blue and white! Do our skit (which is hilarious)! Here is the Lilly Dress I bought for it!!

it comes w/ a Sash, and I think I'll have one made that has Golden Lyres or AXO on it or something (Lyre is our symbol)! And I have these Michael Kors wedges that are offwhite, which I'll probably wear with this!

Third Round) House Tours, we have delicious food (some of which I will be making!) and we have a vineyard vines/nautical theme! I get to find a dress that is pink and Navy!! I have fallen in love with a Tory Burch dress, but I have to see it to make sure it is the right color exactly. And I want to get Jack Roger Full Wedges!

The Fourth Round is very formal and we wear black cocktail dresses!

I am on the hunt this summer so if you have any suggestions about outfits please let me know!!

If anyone is in a sorority, do you like rush? What kind of themes do ya'll do?

love love

March adventures and festivities

Hello All!
Sorry about the long hiatus in postings, my schedule has been super crazy!

 What's been happening:

1) My computer had the biggest virus right before Spring Break. It happened while I was writing this huge midterm paper(s), it had three prompts. It would continuously crash during all night, so I kept losing work and so my grade slowly went downhill as the different papers go on.. haha! Mainly because I had to keep rewriting my last response. It only gets better. I take most of my notes on my computer and so when I opened my computer in class the next day it wouldn't let me open a thing, but naked women kept popping up all over. I squealed and shut my computer really quick. And then took my computer to get fixed promptly after class.

2) Spring break. I went home for spring break, mainly because my parents told me not to make plans this year with all that happened. And because I didn't really want to go to Panama City... sorry. Maybe I'm a little stuck up but that kind of scene just doesn't sound like my thing. And it's not even that warm!! Next year I am going somewhere HOT and I'm spending more than $230 (a/b what my bf paid in PCB, apparently the place they stayed wasn't very nice, wonder why)... maybe I'll go on a cruise or to Jost Van Dyke! :D Anyways, I went shopping with my mom, went to the gym everyday and spent a night at my Papa's. That was really nice, and you could tell that he was very happy that we were there. And that's about it.

3) After Spring Break- I get back and totally forgot that I had a 10 page paper due on Friday... on a book I hadn't read.... so the shamrock sunglasses and light-up leprachaun necklace were never used at my St. Patty's day mixer with the RUGBY TEAM, because I was reading that book! I was really sad to miss it, but I made it up the next week because it was formal week :D!

Parents cocktail: well, we didn't go. the BF was still out of town so I didn't want to go without a date. So my parents, and my littlest sister and I went out to dinner. Dinner was really good. Its a place called Spice Street and it is a fusion restaurant that has Mediterranean, Asian and European styled food. Both my parents had fish, I had duck and my sister had chicken kabobs. Also to go with the very eclectic and ethnic atmosphere of the restaurant they had a belly dancer dance around the tables. It was really cool to watch! If I don't get into Nursing school (oh wait, I didn't... so the second time around) I have found my calling!

4) FORMAL WEEK:
My sorority has a preformal the night before formal, which is a Thursday. This years preformal was so much fun! I loved the venue, the bf came along (and the bf and I make a great dancing team) and I wore this black and cream colored BCBG dress that I bought over the summer and had yet to wear with my new Michael Kors cream-colored wedges. I really liked my outfit. When I buy pictures off the photospecialties website, I'll remember to post them/ when I find a picture I like... I wasn't photographing too well that night-- I won't be sending those pictures to Tyra. To continue the night was probably one of the most fun I've had in a VERY long time, and Lord knows how much I've needed a fun night! We got there at 11:30 (we usually don't show up at events until 12, but this place has food out on the bar that is gone in point five seconds) and didn't leave until after 2, they had to tell us it was over... "but the DJ is still playing!!" Speaking of DJs, he was really good, he played Shout-- which I normally hate with a passion, but given the good time I was having it was probably the best choice the DJ could have made, and he played gangsta rap. It was all around a great time!

Formal on the other hand:
The BF let me know that he couldn't make it to Formal (which is on a Friday) the Sunday of. He had known for awhile, and insists he had told me. NO. He told me that he had a Rugby game for the playoffs (which are HUGE-- think the March Madness of Rugby) the Sat. after formal. I said "no worries, I'll drive you where ever you need to go... that way you can get sleep if we have to leave really early." He said, Ok, we'd have to leave pretty early though.... in NO WAY did he mention we'd have to leave so early as to make a 1:00 game that was 9 hours away in Murpheysboro, TN against Ole Miss. Like Art (my dad) was going to let me drive that far, he (the BF) knew that. Yet he did not once mention that to me. I think he assumed I was going to make him go to formal, which I wouldn't do, his team needs him. So I was scrambling all last week to find a date. Which I found, and he had a tux so it worked out. The BF felt really bad about missing, but he was happy I was able to find a date.
The date:
He was a friend of a friend, who I had never met before. He was nice. A pretty good date, he bought me drinks and stuff, but.......... he danced like a crazy person. I mean, I like, no, LOVE to dance. And I am a very high energy dancer and love the attention I get while dancing... but homeboy got all the wrong sorts of attention. He would do this weird shimmy shimmy thing that was totally offbeat and then would jerk spin me and then out of no where dip me. He was so forceful in this dipping that I now, on Monday, still have a hurt/sore back. To make matters worse, people totally noticed. My roommate kept looking at me and laughing because I would make this like bewildered- what is going on!- face. And after the formal the band members came up and were talking to me saying they could tell that I could dance, but my date.. ha! And at the end he kept like highfiving me and saying "me and Brittany were breaking it down" or something.... I mean, we broke something... like my back. haha!.... don't get me wrong though he was still a nice guy.

Well, that is all for now! I need to go make dinner!

love love

New baby sister (and brother keep your fingers crossed!!)

My parents have finally caved! We are getting a puppy!!!

After our sweet Cleo (Cleopatra Denile Odom!-- I picked out the name!!) passed away in January my heartbroken family said "no more dogs" but there are just some hurts that can only be filled with love... in the form of a new puppy or DOS!! We are getting a golden-doodle. It is a mix between a poodle and a golden retriever! We are getting a girl, we will probably name her Finley. (which I picked out!!!) ... I like Flossy though, from Fergie's song glamorous "the flossy flossy..." haha I thought we could put some ice on her collar!! But Finley is OK too, I'll just call her Flossy on my own!
Here she is!!!

isn't she just precious?

we may get a boy as well. Which my sisters and I are really pulling for, and my Daddy want two also! We would name him AJ- Arthur Junior (after Dadalous) or Charlie (again after Dadalous)!

here he is:  adorable, yes?

Well, keep your fingers crossed!!!

I have to go study for my Physiology test on Friday! Pray for an A!!! :)

Love Love!
